Let's Be Honest...

Hello Hunnies!!

I wanted to start a new series on my blog where I get to talk about anything and I write about my feelings about different topics. That is why it’s called let’s be honest because honestly is the best key and for everyone to hear MY truth. I will say my true opinion and views about any topic that I feel passionate about because it will bring up a conversations. Speaking and freely talking about ANY topics brings out questions and you gain knowledge from different people about it all. Your opening your mind and seeing a different way into that topic which allows you to build on what you feel as well. So my first topic will be.....(drum roll PLEASE!!!)

TAKING OFF THE HIJAB

So I been a hijabi for 4 years now and honestly it’s been hard but I wouldn’t change my decision for the world because I chose to wear it and wasn’t forced into it. That’s what people think but actually that’s not always the truth because not everyone who wears it was forced by their parents. The reason why I chose to wear it was because I wanted to be closer to my faith and I felt empowered by doing it. Do not get me wrong I was thinking about for some time prior and I kept delaying it as “I wanted to be ready”. Why I put it in quotes is because I was always ready but just didn’t have the confidence to do it. So literally I woke up and I remember this day so vividly. It was a Monday and I had college that day, so I just told myself it’s today. So I did and I walked out with the hijab and the first time as a hijabi since that day I have not taken it off. I have taken it off when it’s an all woman event but that’s very rare. My journey as a hijabi has honestly been fun and enjoyable because I have stayed myself and been living my life as normal. That’s a little background into me wearing it and why I wanted to talk about it.

So let’s get started about the topic. So taking of your hijab because hijabis on YouTube and on Instagram are doing it more now than before.  Honestly what baffles me is that you start your career as a hajabi and you build your income from that so taking it off just defeats the object of your whole career. Everyone has different views and opinions on why they have taken it off and they can do it don’t get me wrong. They have every right to do it and I won’t judge them for it. However, it just confuses me because as a viewer I’m like did you build this and changed to fit in or are you getting so much hate that people’s views have made you taken it off. So which one is it????

I get it you get a lot of hate comments on how you should wear it which isn’t nice at all. I haven’t experienced but I can only imagine what it feels like but also why do people do it? I think that should be another post. So I understand hate comments can influence you into that decision but shouldn’t you just prove them wrong and not let it effect you because if you do take it off. You are letting them win and they have succeeded in what they wanted to accomplish. However, you are still gonna get hate because you taken it off. So you haven’t done anything for yourself actually, if you get my point. You will get hate regardless. So you can’t actually escape that either way.

It’s also a big struggle on what to wear when you are one because before I started wearing the hijab where there wasn’t modest clothing at the time however as years gone on there has been such a vast improvement in the fashion industry where they are making fashion lines more modest and being more inclusive. So maybe they are struggling and not enjoying the stress of it all. Thinking what should I wear for specific events or which hijab colour should I wear. That could be another reason as to why they take it off, who knows.

There hasn’t been a time where I wanted to have my hair out because I done my hair and it looks awesome where I want to flaunt it because wearing the hijab you lose that feeling. As you have to tie it up and hide it away. So don’t get me wrong I have had those thoughts about what about one day I go out without it but then I can’t bring myself to do it because I feel like that my security blanket and I feel naked without it. I give props to the girls who take it off because actually it’s hard to do that first step. Doing that step is always a worry, you doubt yourself and you start to second guess yourself.

I mentioned different reason to why they could have taken it off however the big one is their faith and themselves. Being an influencer can change your views and your opinions about faith and religion to where you have different questions about it. You start to second guess and doubts what you can do and what you can’t do. You could lose yourself within wearing the hijab and you start to lose your faith you had because you are so busy you forget. I am not saying it’s their main reason but if they had a stronger faith they would not have taken it off. It’s just a sign to them to tell them they need to be closer and maybe the reason for taking it off to find that place because they are being true and humble to themselves. They want it be real and not lie because wearing the hijab has responsibilities and you present a lot in the Muslim culture.

Everyone has their own struggles in life and they have their own journey and by god. However we shouldn’t  judge or become meaner towards that person because what is hating doing to change their views or option. It won’t, it will just hate the culture even more and it will become toxic. We shouldn’t have to be mean, bitter or angry. We need to respect their decisions but it will always be a thought into mind as to why.

I hope you enjoyed reading this and I hope we start a conversation in the comments below.

Thank you my hunnies

What I Loved In The Month of January

Hello My Lovelies,

I can not believe we have finished a month already, where is all the time going and are we achieving all our 2019 goals? I know I am certainly not because I feel February is where it all begins because I am just getting used to the fact it is 2019.

Let's start this post already, What have I loved in January.

Firstly is the Davido Concert at the O2 Arena, it was sold out and I had the most amazing time. I have to say that was definitely what I loved most in January. He put on an amazing performance which got everyone in the arena screaming, jumping and singing especially me. I was disappointed in the fact he kept us waiting for over an hour but I guess there were some technical issues or something going on backstage. However when he finally came out I think we all just forgot about the waiting and just enjoyed his performance. He brought out special guests such as Idris Elba, Peruzzi, Mayorkrun, Russ and many more. I would defiantly go and see him again. Anyone who likes Nigerian music please go watch him live and listen to his music. I will link my favourite song by Davido at the bottom of this post.

Secondly I been wearing Fenty Beauty's lipgloss in Fenty Glow and liquid lipstick in uncuffed all the time whenever I am doing my make up. This combination is lovely and the liquid lipstick is not drying at all and it lasts a long time as well. The lipgloss smells amazing and it hasn't got that sticky feeling that some lipgloss have. The links will be at the bottom.

Thirdly there is nothing else because I have been busy working and doing my application for my teacher training. So a lot of things are happening in February and I will be posting some more on here.

Thank you for reading, hope you have an amazing February.

Love Amina

I AM BACK!

Hello My Lovlies

So it has been a while, but I am back. Where have I been?

Well it was my final year of my degree and that took a lot of my time because I was working part time. So juggling work and uni was hard and time consuming because my weekends I was typing out my assignments and collecting information for my dissertation. Then weekdays I would be working in a primary school. Honestly I would not change my experience because I learnt a lot about myself and I learnt more about my industry. I had a different uni experience because I lived at home and was communing to work then uni. This last year taught me that you needed a lot of motivation and determination because you will be stressed and you will be sleeping late. Anyways I will leave my experience for another blog post.

I needed the break from blogging to concentrate on my degree. Now I am back and ready to post more for you guys. I have missed uploading and really wanted to post some here and there but I knew time was limited.

I am back and ready!
Take care and lots of love

Amina

March Favourites

Hello My Lovelies

I cannot believe we are in March where has the last two months gone. 2017 is going by so quickly. I should say 2017 and 2018 are going to be my favourite years and the toughest years of my life because I will be completing and graduating from my degree. Which is very exciting

Let’s begin with my March Favourites:

My first favourite is a mascara combo which I have been in love with and been doing for a few months now. The combo is using the YSL False Lash Effect Mascarsa and the Maybelline Lash Sensational mascara. Together the make my eyelashes look long, black and volumized with it being clumpy. Would totally recommended this combo and whenever I use this I always get compliments. My mum always thinks I am wearing false eyelashes when I am not.

The Past month I have been getting into my skin scare more. I have been using masks a lot more when my skin is looking dull and needs hydrating. I suffer from dry to dehydrated skin because I do not drink enough water which is very bad (I know) but I have been trying to drink more this past month which is good. One of the products which I love is this overnight face mask that I got from Boots is the Quick Fix Facial Vitamin C Miracle Mask. I must say I love this mask because it makes my skin look hydrated the next morning. The mask is filled with Vitamin C and Locorice which enhance glow and radiance to the skin. It also has Hyaluronic Acids and Shea which helps with hydration and Papaya extracts which has a lot of antioxidant benefits. If you suffer from dry skin use this on the skin and see how it helps your skin during the night. It had an orange scent to it but I do not mind it

For my birthday, I was given a diffuser set from House of Fraser. I must say I love my candles but I think diffuser sets are way better because they last longer and they leave your rooms with such an amazing scent 24/7. They are very cute and miniature which is amazing because you get to try out all the scents and see which one you love. I currently have 3 in different rooms of the house. Would really recommend them for your house. They are not that expensive either if you want the full sized either.

I recently bought a new case for my Laptop which is a marble. I love the marble effect and going to buy an IPhone case as well with my name or initials on it. I bought it of amazon which is cheap. It also came with a key board cover and laptop case for £19 which is bargain. The case is very sturdy and looks amazing quality.

My music favourite is Alex Aiono, he is by far my favourite YouTube singer. I love all his collaborations and covers. He came out with his own song which is called Work in the Middle. I love the beat to the song and should check it out. Will leave his channel below and some of his songs which is always on replay.

This is all for this month. Hope you enjoy and tell me what you have been loving as well.

Take Care and Lots of love

NYX Ultimate Shadow Palette

Hello My Lovelies

Last year NYX brought out the Ultimate Eyeshadow Palettes...They were exclusively sold in Selfridges however now you can get them anywhere. Four palettes each containing 16 shades in a mix of matte, skimmer, satin and metallic finishes. They are called The Bright’s, Smokey and Highlight, Warm Neutrals and Cool Neutrals.

When I went into Boots I had a look at the palettes and reached for the Warm Neutrals palette because these were my shades that I will use every day and on a night out. I loved all the shades and I typically go for browns, reds and golds on the eyelids.

The palette retails for £16 which I think is reasonable because you get 16 shades and that is £1 per eye shadow. So, I think the price point is good. The warm neutrals palette is most popular because it is always sold out everywhere. On the Boots website it is currently out of stock but do check in store because the might have them there. I will link below where else you can get palette.
Top Row Swatch
Second Row Swatch
Third Row Swatch
Bottom Row Swatch
When I swatch the palette I found the top row on my skin tone did not show up because they were that pale however I would mostly use them for the base, under the brow highlight or setting any eye primer. The rest they were rich, pigmented, bendable and buttery. I love all the shades and you can come up with so many different looks with it as well.

Overall I love the palette and would recommend this to everyone who love warm neutrals and always go for these shadows. It would not break the bank like other high end palettes will. So, go swatch the palette in store. I have not tried the other three palettes partly because I would not use the shades in the palette.

What do you think of the Palettes? Would love to know!
